Elmore Museum

Friday, September 19th, 2008

On Sunday, September 14, 2008 the Elmore Museum held a fundraiser in the afternoon.  It had been sometime since I had last visited the museum.

What a fun way to learn of Elmore’s past.  The Museum Board has done a wonderful job of displaying the treasures they have.

I understand that they also have all issues of the Elmore Eye (former newspaper of Elmore) on microfiche.  What an interesting read that would be!

If you would like to visit the museum please call their curator, Kathy Gill at 943-3403.

Spring Fever

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Just the other day I heard my daughter say “I can’t wait til summer gets here!”  Now, that’s a very popular saying about this time every year!  Everybody seems  to think that the days are c r a w l i n g along.  But you know it can be very deceiving.  Especially for us ‘parents’.  If you’re anything like me, with kids in school and mountains of things to do every day, it doesn’t seem that far away!  All the things that need to be accomplished every day doesn’t give me a lot of time to wish for summer! (Besides what will we do with them under foot?) Just the bill paying is enough for me to wish there were more days in a month to be able to keep up with them!  Then there’s the every day chores and things that need to be done in order to live comfortably that take a lot of time and  energy. So for some parents it doesn’t ‘really’ matter if it’s winter or summer, after all, each season comes with it’s own pros and cons! There will still be the necessary things that will need to be done! But for kids, “nothing” is more important than to have the warm weather and school to be out along with mosquitoes and sweat so they can say………. “THERE’S NOTHING TO DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Blizzard Blues

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

The community of Elmore - young and old - are invited to Trinity Lutheran Church on Sunday, January 27, 2007 for an afternoon of fun and fellowship with your neighbors!

Forget about the cold and snow and warm up with family, friends, and future friends!  Bring a crockpot or casserole of your favorite recipe to share and join us for dinner at 11:30 a.m.  A variety of warm beverages will be furnished.

Stay for an afternoon of BINGO complete with white elephant gifts.  Activities are planned for the younger members of the community with a video and a theme craft project during the afternoon.  Homemade ice cream and all the fixings will be enjoyed as an afternoon treat!

All this FUN and we will have you headed home by 4:00 p.m.!  In case of uncooperative weather listen to KBEW 98.1 for plans to postpone to a later date!
